This is my fifth Pedersoli muzzloading rifle — so obviously I think a lot of Pedersoli’s general quality and historical accuracy. This Zouave/1863 Remington replica is probably now the most beautiful firearm, of any kind, that I own. Maybe I just got lucky, but the wood on mine is a stunning dark walnut with lots of grain and dark striping, and the polished brass barrel bands and trigger guard/tang put it over the top. It has the historically accurate thicker barrel walls (compared with a Springfield 1861 or P1853 Enfield) and is just as nice to shoot as it is to look at. I cast my own Minie bullets for this and my Enfield rifle (Lyman mold #578675) and size them to .575″, lubed with Alox. I’ve only shot it once so far, but the Zouave was at least on par with my Pedersoli Enfield 3-band for practical accuracy at 100 yards. If you’re thinking about a Zouave — buy this one. It’s worth the extra bucks.
