I purchased the 44 special/colt/Russian version of this pistol with 7.5 barrel. I love the look of the open top colt and looked forward to shooting this one. I already have a 45 colt and 38 long colt in open top version. It arrived quickly to my FFL. The pros are that the pistol finish is very good. The wood is good and fit is good. However the cons are big. First the cylinder gap is .009 were it should be between .003-.006. and yes I know how to adjust the wedge but that took it from the starting point of .011 to the ending point of .009. It will not adjust any more without metal removal. I could live with the gap since I only shoot cowboy loads and the gas escaping would not be that bad. My major complaint is that the cylinder will not except 44 special cases. The 44 special case is 1.16 long and the cylinder is reamed to 1.10 which is the 44 colt case length. Of course 44 Russian (.970 length) will also fit. Once I trimmed 44 special cases to 1.10 they fit. So I have a pistol that is clearly marked on…

Fit and finish is very good on them very accurate if I can see the front sight against the target since it’s a little bit small. Blueing and color case hardening looks great and the actions are fairly smooth with a very light trigger and nice stiff hammer pull. I switched put the brass backstrap and trigger guard for blued ones because the navy open tops dont come with blued ones unless you get the army grip size guns.
