This is an unusual review, but somebody needs to say it. The product works as advertised. However, there is a fatal flaw in my opinion.
I followed the directions to the letter during install on my SCAR 16S. I have also installed a Midwest Industries rail on my SCAR 17. I read the directions step-by-step as a went along, it isn’t an intuitive install so I recommend you do the same. There is a total of 15 steps and 3 pages with good pictures. On step 14 it basically says that you have permanently made 6 screw marks into the upper receiver as you tightened the handguard down. “Note that some receivers may make contact with the six screw which secure the handguard. Witness marks may be left on the receiver as a result.” So in steps 12 and 13 it tells you the order to tighten the last 6 screws down, and then in step 14 is tells you that you have permanently marred the upper anodized part of your rifle.
If you don’t care about this, then this product will work. But I just bought a $2500 rifle and …

Another fine VLTOR product! This is yet another product from this MFG that I’ve had the pleasure of using. My first encounter with the VLTOR rail system was a little more than ten years ago. I purchased the VLTOR CASV-EL (with the full Picatinny Rail) for my first AR (Bushmaster XM-15 E2S). Unfortunately, there was a minor hiccup. I had the misfortune of owning one of the models where the upper was milled in Canada so the fastener bolt/screw channels didn’t quite line up between the rails. Obviously that wasn’t VLTOR’s problem. After some “minor” adjusting, the rail system was installed. To this day, it’s been rock solid without as much as a rattle or loose screw.
Moving on to the SCAR 17S (tan), the CASV-SCAR and the complementing CASV-ET (tan extension) are no exception. Built to the same standard as the original handguard, the construction is top-notch and installation was very simple (just tske care when loosening the front allen screw as the block may dislodge and get lost).
