I bought this to put on display and also to take it to the Range to shoot it. The cannon looks very nice but Traditions needs to pay more attention to the finished product. The gold barrel has swirl marks down the entire length leading me to think that the boring bit was dull or caught a chip during the process. They really show up in a photo from the front. Also the finish looks great on the main chassis but in between the spokes it looks like overspray? A beautiful piece, but for the big bucks it should look better which is why I only gave it 4 stars.

This review is for the nickel Version. The little stuff: The brushes on the ram rods are just for looks. They are only glued on and will come off inside the barrel if you try to use them. The little straps are junk that hold the ram rods, had to remake them out of leather. Had to buy thinner wheel washers, the ones that it came with were too thick to install the wheels. The big stuff: the nickel flaked off from the front of the cannon on the first shot! Traditions warranty apparently doesn’t cover finishes and they imply that you must have done something wrong when firing the cannon. Bottom line, the cannon looks good for a display and it does shoot but for the price its lacking in quality.
