The Kodiak, in 54 cal, has been my favorite muzzleloader for over a decade. It was bought with visions of Cape buffalo but in the real world its a hog and target gun. It’s functional range is up to 150 yards using a T/C maxiball. Shots over 120 yds require practice but Express sights & a stable rest help. Its barrels are regulated at 75 yds where it will fire side by side holes using 60 grains of Pyrodex P (BP is hard to get where I live). I’ve tried loads up to 110 gr but 60 seems to be most accurate, & is the charge Pedersoli recommends. Overall, the rifle is well built; though mine came with 3 defects:
1. I received it the rifle disassembled. The fore end fit was so tight I had to take a barrel bedding cutter to relieve the barrel channel enough to install it. A dowel and coarse sand paper would do the same thing.
2. The triggers must have been designed by a Brady lawyer. The pull exceeded 25 lbs. Polishing fixed this, but for a rifle of this grade I expected better.

Stock cracked upon reassembly after cleaning. Had been fired once. Part where the wedge held the barrel in basically disintegrated. Barrel was fitted waaay too tightly to stock. Contacted Pedersoli, was told the stock isn’t covered under warranty. No help from Midway.
