Once installed in my build, my 16 inch barrel actually comes off easily, attaches back on securely, and mine actually holds zero, which I found surprising. WATCH ALL THE VIDEOS from Cry Havoc (and Brownells) carefully. This will not work with all hand guards. If you study a little bit before hand, the install is easy. If you are comfortable with a barrel install, you can do this too I think.
