I recently purchased this revolver and an 1949 Third Generation Colt Pocket Model from another source. The 1862 from Midway has better case coloring on the frame, better fit of wood to metal, better/smoother trigger pull and action. Accuracy is about what I expected (shoots high as do most revolvers of this type) with .375 round balls and a charge of Pyrodex. The Uberti was just over half the price of Colt and in my opinion, a better revolver.

I have several cap and ball revolvers and am a little bit experienced with them. The revolver was bright and shiny but when I pulled the wedge it fell apart – The little pins that go from the frame to the lower part of the barrel assembly were sheared off and stuck in the barrel half. It must have been very difficult to do this and it must have left the factory like that.
So, I call Midway and after holding on the phone 20 minutes I get someone who put me on hold for another five minutes while she went to ask what to do. She came back and said that since I had “Disassembled” the gun it had to go back to Uberti. I tried to explain that pulling the wedge on a BP revolve is not disassembly; but I could see she didn’t want to think about it any more and I gave up and realized I would have to send it back to Uberti.
So I called Uberti. They were a lot better and understood what I was talking about, but the guy I spoke with didn’t know you could return BP firearms directly to the owner without an FFL – As…
