This is a replica of the transition period when S&W’s patient for a bore through cylinder expired in 1868. Both Colt and Remington began converting percussion revolvers into cartridge revolvers while at the same time researching and experimenting with producing and marketing revolvers designed for cartridges from the factory. Remington was king with the best percussion revolver, so a replica from Uberti of a cartridge conversion needed to be part of my collection. Taylor and Company make sure their Uberti revolvers are top notch. It’s interesting to note that while Colt and S&W dominated the cartridge revolver market in the late 1800’s Remington, after a superior design for the percussion revolver failed to design a comparable cartridge revolver.
