I bought this to replace a non factory barrel that didn’t work as advertised. The non factory barrel was too tight to install, even worse trying to remove it from the receiver, and the mag cap detent jammed the cap making it extremely difficult to remove. This barrel dropped in perfectly with no effort, and it has the magazine cap detent installed, modified Rem choke tube installed and a choke tube wrench. I originally bought an 870 tactical model and wanted to use the same gun to bird hunt with, I didn’t want to buy another shotgun. Remington really made their barrel compatibility very confusing by changing the magazine spring and cap retention on the different product lines. This barrel will work with either the old style with barrel guide ring detent or the new style internal ratchet spring retainer. I was even surprised the barrel is roll marked safe to use 3.5 inch shells in a super magnum receiver. I removed the factory 2 round extension and use the old style cap that uses the guide ring deten…
Just me –
Installs easy enough, but the cuts are not the same as my factory original barrels. This means the barrel doesn’t seat properaly and makes extracation very difficult. I did everything I could find to troubleshoot it and it turns out this barrel just isn’t cut right. It might fit for you, but it didn’t fit for me on two different guns.
