Folks, what a tool! I just happened to stumble across this baby. I didn’t know that Larry/MidwayUSA stocked it. Most of us these days have at least one .223. Some more than one. In my opinion, this is a “must have.” It is a direct copy of the Military standby for M1 and M1A, or M14. The reading is instant. The instructions that come with it tell exactly what each number means. (0 thru 10) each number represents .001 of an inch. Example: 0 to 1 – first class chamber/throat. 10 – forget it. etc. I had trouble with one rifle. A Ruger Mini 14. Where the handle connects to the gage, is a round ball. I touched each side of the ball to my grinder. Problem solved! It then slid through the slot in the back of the receiver. No problem with any other rifle. I let the weight of the tool determine how far it enters the chamber so as to not get a false reading. I have one for my M1 National Match. It reads almost “1” on the scale.
