This tool is supposed to do many things w/o the need for a lathe. It will cut the thread minor diameter but the cutting surfaces that are to true the receiver face do nothing but bottom out and don’t cut anything. Since they also control cutting depth to the lug abatements it means you can’t true them either. So feel free to spin the tap wrench around a few hundred times to test your theory, even chucking the whole set up in a lathe for completeness’ sake, but it’ll just frustratingly spin around still not cutting. Just pay a smith to do the blueprinting on a real set up, at the end of the day you’ll spend about the same amount.

OK, forgot about this and wanted to follow up. It’d appear the 700 action I was working on was a little more out of spec than at first thought. This tool had to cut through a substantial amount of material beyond the threads so it could do its thing. This is why in my previous review I had been stymied by why it hadn’t worked as intended. After giving it a day and really looking into what was happening the light bulb went on and I admitted my stupidity. Once passed that this tool worked swimmingly. The lug abatements and receiver face were cut smooth and true. Once it was finally assembled with new barrel it shot cloverleaves all day long.
