The installation fixture holds the bolt in the correct orientation in the milling machine vise for either AR-15 or Sako extractor installation. The tool is not intuitive in operation, as it holds a variety of bolts. The instructions are a bit sketchy. If you have never done this before, I suggest you call Nightowl direct for help. The fixture is at its best for installation of the modified AR-15 extractor. Sako extractors are easily installed when instructions are detailed. This could be a great tool with better instructions. Overall, I would say the fixture is for the experienced machinist/gunsmith with a good understanding of milling machine work. So far, I have installed one AR-15 extractor on a Rem 700 bolt. The extractor works well, and I suspect subsequent installations will go more easily. Take your time on the first one.

I bought this to install a Badger M16 style extractor on a Remington 700 bolt. Badger recommended that the slot for the extractor to be cut at a 30deg angle. This jig sets the bolt up at a 40deg angle. A 40deg angle puts the Badger into the recoil lug. I was not fond of that idea.
This may work fine for PTG’s Sako style extractor but I ended up returning this.
