I’ve had mine for 4 or 5 years so it cost even less but at double today’s price you would still wonder ” how can Pietta build this and make a profit “. The color case hardening is still bright and vivid after years of handling, both the receiver
And ramrod are color cased. The brass grip frame looked great when I bought it but after years of pawing it and a bit of brass polish each time I clean it looks like gold and you could shave using it for a mirror. The blueing is deeper and darker than even the best of today’s guns and holds up so well to all the handling loading a cap and ball requires. ( How could anyone spray paint a gun? ). The 1851 was and is the most natural pointing weapon ever designed, if you can point your finger you can hit a paper plate from the hip at seven yards so easily it will shock you. It is a .44 not .36 as the original was but that just makes it more fun as a shooter, you can disappear in a cloud of smoke that smells like Crisco and rotten eggs. Awesome!

I honestly had high expectations that this revolver would perform very well out of the box. I was very disappointed when my expectations were not met in the slightest. The cylinder does not rotate properly and get stuck every time I pull the hammer back. The hammer get stuck very often as well as the trigger. I feel like I have been completely ripped off with this horrible purchase. I am very dissatisfied with this revolver.
