I was a little worried about buying a rifle this pricey sight unseen. Especially since all the pictures of this model online (including Midway) were the exact same stock picture. After receiving it though, my worries were gone. It is truly impressive. The color case hardening is a beautiful gold base with darkened patches, unlike a lot of other color case hardened that are black base with a blue/pink hue. The wood is a fancy grade, as pictured. Metal-wood fit and finish are generally good, well in line with the price. A few knocks: 1. there are some open pores on the wood stock and forearm. It looks great but a bit more finish would really increase the depth of shine and show off the grain even more. 2. As seen in other Italian 1886s, the tops of the locking lugs have a slight forward slope to them when the action is closed (see pics), where in other 1886s, the locking lugs are flush with the top of the reciever. Not a huge deal though.
