Bought the B&C Alaskan II in an attempt to manage the recoil on a Remington 700 BDL in Rem 8mm Mag. The stock helped tame the recoil of the 220gr hot loads, understanding that tame is a relative term when dealing with the Big 8. But in my opinion, the major contribution was the improvement in accuracy. The stock, with it’s pillar bedding, has turned a 2 inch MOA bruiser into a .75 inch wonder which is almost a pleasure. Action dropped in without any modifications other than the screws provided were too short for my older action. This was corrected with a quick call to B&C Customer Service (info included in installation instructions), who immediately mailed out longer screws without charge. I did have to cut the longer screws to length. Wish the selection was wider; I would put one on every hunting rifle I own.
