I purchased this stock as a foul weather/rough duty replacement for my walnut-stocked Model 70 Featherweight 325 WSM. The overall fit and finish is very good, and it was a true drop-in as far as the barreled action and floor plate were concerned. However, securing the floor plate to the action required some effort. Basically, the fore and aft holes in the internal aluminum block in the stock that I received were slightly off center to the rear. As such, I had to use a round file to “oblong” the front of both holes in the block in order for the floor plate bolts to align with the bolt holes in the action. This process took about an hour using a fine-toothed file that I use to sharpen my chainsaw, and, through trial and effort, I finally achieved a proper fit. The only other negative comment that I have is that the free-float directly beneath the barrel is excessive…at least 1/8″…and will undoubtedly collect dirt and debris over time, but I guess that can live with it.
